ATV Trail System

Press Release:
ATV Trail Opening Date Set

For the 2010 season, the entire Marinette County ATV Trail System will re-open on Friday, April 23. This closure was required to protect the soft trail bed from erosion damage caused by ATV’s and other vehicles during spring breakup and to clean up downed trees/branches.

Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) Pilot Program

Marinette County is planning on participating in a new Pilot Program that will again allow Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTV’s) to use all designated all-terrain vehicle trails and routes in Marinette County similar to the first Pilot Program that ran from 2008-2009. This new Pilot Program will end on June 30, 2012.

UTV riders must register their Utility Terrain Vehicle at any Department of Natural Resources Service Center to be allowed on the Marinette County ATV trail system. More information will follow soon...

Marinette County has over 200 miles of ATV trails for you to explore. The majority of this trail system is open year round except when they are closed for approximately the month of April due to soft & wet trail conditions during the spring break-up.

ATV CAMPGROUND

Requests for ATV facilities led the County Parks Department to open the first All Terrain Vehicle Campground in Marinette County at McClintock Park. Located a few miles south of the day use area of the park (just off Parkway Road, now known as County I), it remains available for general camping as well. While ATV's are not permitted in the day use areas of Marinette County Parks, a parking lot for ATV's has been constructed across the road from the McClintock day use area for an easy walk in to the scenic bridges, islands and small day use cabins on the Peshtigo River.

The campground opens for the season May 1st. The recent seven-mile "Homestead Trail" addition near McClintock Park, allows ATV riders camping at the park to now access the hundreds of miles of ATV trails in both Marinette and Florence counties.

ATV riders who enjoy primitive camping can also take advantage of the county’s policy of allowing camping anywhere along the trail system in the 231,000-acre county forest for up to two weeks at a time. A $10 Annual Sticker is required to camp on Marinette County Forest Land. For more information, contact Marinette County Foresty at 715-732-7525 or go to the "Camping on County Land" page of the County Forestry part of this website.
