First responders are a key element of Emergency Management's mission to prepare, respond and recover from disaster. Here you will find information on training, grants and other resources available through this department.
Make sure to visit the "NIMS" page also for the latest information on NIMS requirements.
TRAINING & EXERCISING
Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM) and the WI Office of Justice Assistance (OJA) are our primary training resources. Courses are also available through FEMA and the Emergency Management Institute (EMI).
OJA is the funding source for Homeland Security related training and exercising. Currently, OJA only funds WMD related exercises.
Training may also be held locally for certain courses. Go to the "Training & Exercising" page for more information.
OTHER RESOURCES
Marinette County has an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) located in this office, with an "overflow" room in the event an incident becomes large-scale. The EOC is equipped with phones, computers, maps, status charts and other supplies. The EOC can be activated, fully or partially, by the EM Director. The purpose of the EOC is to provide a central place for resource coordination.
An offshoot of the EOC is the media center. The County Board Room in the courthouse has been designated and equipped to serve as a Joint Information Center (JIC). Trained Public Information Officers (PIO's) would meet there to coordinate information for release to the public and media.
