SERVICES PROVIDED
To fulfill its responsibilities to maintain the safety and convenience of the county and state trunk highway systems, the Highway Department performs both general and winter maintenance including: patching, crack filling and seal coating of pavement, shoulder maintenance and vegetation control, bridge and culvert maintenance, litter and trash pickup, guard rail installation and repair, signing, pavement marking, and traffic control. Winter maintenance includes: the application of sand and salt, plowing, shoveling and hauling snow. Additionally, the department provides road construction, pavement resurfacing (blacktopping), bridge repair, culvert repair and installation. To effectively accomplish these activities, storage, maintenance and repair facilities are operated at various locations (Peshtigo, Crivitz and Pembine).
